A family-friendly open-air production by professional touring theatre group, The Moving Parts Theatre Company.
This summer, we invite you to the shores of Sicily for the intrigue, drama, wit and wisdom of Much Ado About Nothing.
‘There was a star danced and under that was I born!’
It’s the 1960’s, and on the island of Messina there really is no-one quite like our heroine, Beatrice. Independent, fiery and quick-witted, she vows, to the dismay of her uncle Leonato, not to be ‘fitted with a husband’. Her convictions don’t waver even when Benedick, as sharp of tongue as she, returns to the island. It would take intervention of magic proportions to bring the two together… and everything is possible on the sun-drenched, warm-blooded shores of Sicily.
Full of the twists and turns of love and life, Much Ado About Nothing is one of Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies, inventively adapted by Moving Parts Theatre Company for modern enjoyment. This is a fun and lively production accompanied throughout by a fantastic original score, which is inspired by everything from Sicilian tarantella to 60s pop and is performed live by the actors themselves. Summer theatre of this calibre at our beautiful Keats House is not one to miss.
From the company that brought you last year’s Macbeth, you’ll know to expect an exciting and inventive approach to telling this wonderful story, which keeps both comedy and drama firmly at its heart. All three performances in 2023 were sold out, so we have added another one this year!
Reactions to Macbeth:
“Oh how much we loved your performance! Looking forward to whatever you perform next year already.”
“Magnificent performance last night in the beautiful evening sunshine! Well done to a terrific cast.”
“Just a brilliant performance of Macbeth, by a fantastic cast."
Refreshments will be available before the performance and during the interval. A perfect way to spend a summer afternoon or evening.
[NB: Some of the ticket cost goes to supporting the actors after a hard year, and a proportion goes to the two beneficiary charities of the Hampstead Summer Festival].
